Best Scene Ever (or Intro to NaNoWriMo)

I spent most of my 20s swooning over this movie. In 1993 I saw Speed twice. My father loved the big blockbuster actions and my sister loved Keanu Reeves.

Spoiler alert!

So Keanu is this really hot cop who has to stop this crazy dude from killing people and this crazy dude, played by the magnificent Dennis Hopper, put a bomb on a city bus that will detonate if the bus slows down. Keanu (yes, we are on a first name basis) is lowered under the bus while it is still running to get a look at the bomb… only the bus runs over rubble and he is almost run over! To save himself he uses a screwdriver to keep from falling but alas, he puts the screwdriver through the gas tank so…

Annie (played by the wonderful Sandra Bullock, driving bus): What is that smell?
Jack: It’s gas.
Annie: We’re leaking gas?
Jack: We are now.
Annie: What, you thought you needed another challenge or something?

And so describes my life right now.

This is my third year of participating in National Novel Writing Month. I won the first year while R was in Iraq. Last year he was home recovering from the accident and while he encouraged me to keep writing, my heart and my mind just weren’t in it. This year he’s back in Virginia and I’m going for another win.
