So over on Wife of a Sailor (http://wifeofasailor.com; I still don’t know how to make that blue link appear), Wife posts questions for other bloggers to answer on their own military spouse blogs. (Still with me so far?) And since I don’t want to watch Curious George 2 downstairs with the family, I thought this might be fun to fill out while I’m pretending to declutter our room.
1.Does your Significant Other read your blog? Why is this a good or a bad thing?
Yes, he reads my blog. In fact, he just found out about it two weeks ago and finally read it for the first time the other day. I was mortified! We are our own worse critics but I value his opinion. I even asked him, since I do provide a lot of info about his accident and our family, if he wanted me to remove any of it but he said it was fine.
2.What is one item in your house that holds the most sentimental value and why?
Possessions come and go when we move every few years, when movers tend to break our stuff, and especially when our kids came into our lives. There is very little that I wouldn’t hesitate giving away especially if it’s donated to Goodwill or the thrift store on base. I will not get rid of our pictures. Yes, I am a picture hoarder.
I thought I would never get rid of the beautiful trillion diamond engagement ring (that’s as in “shaped” not as in “worth”) that my husband gave me when he proposed. However, I would give it to my son if he wanted to use it to propose to his significant other. But I would make it clear to her that if they ever broke up, it’s mine again or I will kick her ass.
3.When it comes to water fun in the summer do you prefer the beach, the pool, a lake, or the sprinklers?
Beach! I grew up in the Monterey Bay and never appreciated it until I went to San Francisco for college. I love going back in the spring and summer months even if we have to wear a sweater.
4.What is the one special thing that you do for yourself to get you through the first week of a deployment/separation?
I rent a few movies, drink some coffee, and buy a couple of magazines. I also bring the kids to Chick-Fil-A for dinner.
5. What is your biggest guilty pleasure website?
I am a celebrity gossip monger. I’ve finally stopped watching the E! channel on TV but still find myself browsing http://eonline.com or http://laineygossip.com. Also I’ve subscribed to a ton of blogs, some milspouse related and others to offer/receive writing support. It’s amazing what’s out there and available when I can’t sleep.
